The Office of Faculty Affairs regularly offers a variety of workshops that will be of interest to faculty, including workshops on the Retention, Tenure, and Promotion (RTP) process and the use of Interfolio, how faculty lecturers can submit for a Range Elevation, the process for applying for a Sabbatical or Difference in Pay Leaves, and Faculty Recruitment Workshops, to name a few. The Office also sponsors sessions for Department/Division Chairs and School Directors on various topics in conjunction with other offices.
The Office of Faculty Affairs is also pleased to share other training resources with faculty, some of which have been developed by the Center for Effective Teaching & Learning or the Office for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Learning Opportunities
RTP Faculty Workshops
The Office of Faculty Affairs provides workshops throughout the year to provide guidance on preparing for retention, tenure, and promotion. These workshops are generally scheduled for faculty based on the type of review they will be submitting materials for in advance of their submissions.
Lecturer Resources
The One-Stop Resource for Faculty Lecturers is designed to Support Lecturers that teach at Cal State LA. The information hub provides helpful information on a variety of topics for faculty lecturers
Department Chairs' Toolkit
The Chair's Toolkit to Support Lecturers is an information hub designed to help chairs with the processes associated with hiring and supporting lecturers to work within the department/division or school.
Early Career Faculty Programs
Early Career Faculty programs are designed for tenure-track faculty who are working through the initial transitions to university faculty work-life. Participation in these opportunities enables early career faculty to network with one another, as well as panelists and campus administrators, while reviewing important components of faculty success.
CETL Training
The Center for Effective Teaching and Learning conducts various weekly workshops focused on areas of teaching practice, Canvas, and other educational technology tools. Workshops may be asynchronous and available at faculty convenience and others may be scheduled at various times or in cohorts.
