The English Graduate Student Association is presenting its 17th annual research conference, Significations, which will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the University Student Union.
A showcase for graduate research and writing, this conference brings together students from across the CSU system.
We are very excited to welcome this year’s keynote speaker, Professor Rajagopalan Radhakrishnan, Chancellor's Professor of English and Comparative Literature at University of California, Irvine. Professor Radhakrishnan will be sharing some of his latest work.
REGISTRATION
We invite all students, as well as family members and friends, to attend panels throughout the day. The panels and the keynote address are complimentary and open to the public; however, space is limited for the keynote address. Registered attendees, presenters, and moderators will be seated first.
For CSULA students, registration is complimentary.
For all others who wish to register as participants in the conference, the conference fee is $20. Participants are invited to join us for a continental breakfast and lunch. In addition, participants will be provided with a digital copy of the conference proceedings. Additional digital copies of the conference proceedings may be purchased for $5. Print copies of the proceeding will be available through lulu.com, and ordering information will be available at the conference.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
R. Radhakrishnan is Chancellor's Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Irvine where he is also core faculty in the program in African American Studies, the Ph.D. program in Culture and Theory, and the Critical Theory Emphasis. He is also affiliated with the Department of Women's Studies.
His books include Diasporic Mediations: Between Home and Location (University of Minnesota Press, 1996), Theory in an Uneven World (Blackwell 2003), Between Identity and Location: The Politics of Cultural Theory (Orient Longman, India, 2007), History, the Human, and the World Between (Duke University Press, 2008), and Edward Said: A Dictionary (Wiley, 2012).
He is the editor of Theory as Variation (Pencraft India, 2007), coeditor with Susan Koshy of Transatlantic South Asians: The Making of a Neo-Diaspora (Oxford University Press, 2008), coeditor with Kailash Baral of Theory After Derrida (Routledge India and UK, 2009), coeditor with CT Indira of Colonialism/Theory/Modernity (Orient Longman India, 2012). He is currently completing a collection of essays, When Is The Political? and editing a special issue of Modern Fiction Studies on "Politics and Fiction." His essays have appeared in a wide range of academic journals and collections. Winner of a number of fellowships including the Fulbright, he has translated contemporary Tamil fiction into English and is the author of a volume of poems in Tamil.
