You are cordially invited to California State University, Los Angeles on Thursday, January 24 for an evening of live improvisational jazz and poetry. Witness a dynamic reading featuring members of the CSULA Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. James Ford; and co-sponsored by Statement Magazine, CSULA's journal of literature and art; Department of English; College of Arts and Letters; Center for Contemporary Poetry and Poetics; and Students Speak: Poetry and Music Society. Featured poets include Statement Magazine past contributors and staff, with special guest Michael C. Ford. The event, which is free and open to the public, signals the February 4 submissions deadline for the 2013 issue of Statement Magazine. This 62-year old annual student-edited journal received the 2008 National Program Director's Prize in Content from the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP). |
