The WordsUncaged Project comprises several related initiatives, and connects to broader prison education endeavors at Cal State LA. Digital humanities initiatives aimed at promotion and communication are complemented by important archival work related to the writing produced by incarcerated people. A library archive (print and digital) is planned to preserve for future research materials associated with the WordsUncaged Prison Journal as well as other WordsUncaged projects.

STUDENT INTERNSHIPS
The WordsUncaged Project encourages undergraduate and graduate students to serve as volunteers. In the past, students have been awarded $750 fellowships to support their work as interns in the program, which is crucial to its promotional efforts and civic engagement. If you are a current Cal State LA English major or graduate student and are interested in learning more about opportunities to participate in the WordsUncaged Project, contact the English Department.
