Description
The Department of English invites you to the annual David L. Kubal Memorial Lecture. This year’s featured lecturer is Stanford University’s Dr. Adam Banks, who will be delivering a talk entitled "Funkentelechy: Toward a Black Vernacular Rhetoric of Technology." Dr. Banks’s work explores the intersection of writing, rhetoric, and technology, and includes specialized interests in African American rhetoric, community literacy, digital rhetorics, and digital humanities; his most recent book is Digital Griots: African American Rhetoric in a Multimedia Age. In addition to Dr. Banks’s lecture, the event will also recognize the department’s student fellowship recipients and celebrate the winners of the 2022 Kubal Essay Award competition.
