Economics Students Simulate a FOMC meeting; Meet Members of the Federal Reserve
On Tuesday June 2nd the Department of Economics and Statistics hosted their annual San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank University Symposium. The event recreates a Federal Open Market Committee meeting where policymakers analyze economic data and suggest a course for monetary policy. Students from Economics 435, Market Indicators and Federal Reserve Policy, produced forecasts for key economic variables including Gross Domestic Product (GDP), unemployment, and inflation. CBE students impressed Fed members with their forecasting skills, almost mirroring those published by the Federal Reserve.
The event is an opportunity for students to participate in a professional setting, hear from members of the Federal Reserve Bank and discuss economic issues. After the simulation students and guests nosh and network. Congratulations on another successful event!
