In the process of obtaining a degree in Finance with a Minor in Economics, Alejandra Zuniga understands the importance of being a part of something bigger and the CBE is just the right stepping stone to do so.
When the recession hit in 2008, Alejandra and her family were forced to move out of state to find work in Cleveland, Ohio. When the company employing her father failed, they returned to California. Not easily discouraged by adversity, Alejandra’s interest in business and economics piqued.
Since joining the CBE in 2016, Alejandra has been an active member of the Finance Association. In fact, she previously worked as the secretary and is currently the President. Alejandra also worked for the Investments Division at the Los Angeles City Employee Retirement System, where she learned about investment vehicles and institutional investing. Seizing every opportunity, Alejandra finds time out of her full-time school schedule to work at the Retirement Division for the City of Los Angeles, where she hopes to continue to work post-graduation.
If she could be any fictional character, Alejandra believes Shuri resonates with her most. “In the Marvel Universe, she’s the one that’s going to change the world through her technology, and I want to do the same.” The CBE is confident Alejandra will do exactly that – and luckily for us, we will be able to witness it!
