Devoted to putting as much good into the world as he can before he leaves it, Daniel Ruiz serves the CBE community as the Assistant to the Director of Student Services. Having joined the CBE in July of 2018, the most rewarding aspect of Daniel’s job is “working with a team that cares as much about student success as I do.”
Understanding the importance of a strong support system, Daniel explained, “During my time in college I was very far from my friends and family that I grew up with. My support system consisted of those that worked at the college and it was because of them that I was able to succeed.”
He continued, “So when I wake up, I’m excited to get to the office, knowing that everyone there matches my energy and cares so much about the work we do for our students.”
Daniel graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. During his student tenure, he served as Resident Advisor among other office roles. After graduation and four years working in customer service for a third-party logistics company, he worked at Whittier College as a Program Assistant for their Counseling Service Center for two years during the day and moonlit as a bartender by night.
When he is not working, he spends most of his time in the kitchen or at a restaurant (pre-Covid) as he loves to both cook and eat. He also golfs every weekend with either his best friend or dad. He hopes to one day write and publish something meaningful, share a meal with someone from a different country, be an extra in one of his favorite director’s movies, and take a motorcycle trip up the West Coast.
In the meantime, he is reading Kitchen Confidential by the late Anthony Bourdain.
