Please visit the main TEACH Program page for additional information. See below for the most commonly asked questions about the TEACH Program.
General Information
TEACH replaces former programming, including the TECH certificate, Teaching Project certificate, and Alt-Instruction certificate. TEACH brings together workshops from the past five years into one program. Our program features four pathways each investigating a critical theme in teaching and learning.
No. CETL does not certify faculty to teach online. We offer certificates--evidence that you have participated in your own professional development. But only your college and department can decide what to require of you to demonstrate you teach effectively online. Please consult with your chair or dean.
The TEACH Program is complementary to our more intensive course design program, DOC (Designing Online Courses).
Note: The Teaching with Technology Pathway is a prerequisite to the DOC program.
You can track your progress in completing workshops for the program through the TEACH Hub Course.
If you previously attended a webinar, you do not need to attend again. However, in order to receive credit towards the new program, you may still need to complete a short assignment or activity for each online webinar.
You can access these assignments through the Resource Course associated with the webinar.
After uploading your submission, allow CETL staff five days to review and provide feedback.
After completing all four pathways, you are eligible for the TEACH Program certificate. After meeting all the program requirements, a certificate will be sent automatically via email.
To show your progress in completing one or more of the pathways, request your CETL Transcript. Remember to allow 5 business days for your most recent progress to reflect on the transcript.
No, only the workshops listed on TEACH Program page count toward completion of the four TEACH pathways. For instance, badges earned in the ACUE program do not count for TEACH. However, the TEACH Program complements our other programs.

Most of the TEACH Program webinars require the completion of a small deliverable. You can access these assignments after attending the webinar through the Resource Course associated with the workshop. After uploading your submission, allow CETL staff five days to review and provide feedback.
We also kindly ask that you stay for the entire presentation. Should you need to leave early, we may ask that you attend a future session.
After attending a webinar, you will be automatically enrolled in a Resource Course for that specific workshop. First check your Canvas Course Dashboard. If you’re unable to locate the course on your dashboard, visit Courses in the Global Navigation bar on the left side of Canvas. Then use the link All Courses. This will display a comprehensive list of all courses where you are enrolled.
First, you must register for the webinar in Eventbrite eight hours before the start time. Only your Cal State LA email will be accepted. You will receive a link to the webinar the day of the event.
Please arrive on time and stay for the entire workshop-- and make sure you fully complete any activity to earn credit. When you enter the webinar, please type your name and department in the Chat to “All Panelists and Attendees.” CETL staff will check you in.
