School-Based Family Clinic
Cal State Los Angeles
The School-Based Family Clinic is housed on the Cal State LA campus in King Hall C-1067 and offers individual and family counseling services for the diverse community surrounding Cal State LA. We emphasize respect for the values and culture of our clients with a focus on empowering them to address and resolve areas of difficulty while recognizing their positive assets. Of particular interest is assisting couples, families, and children to work together to be more successful in school, work, and in their relationships. Counseling services are available in English and Spanish, Mondays through Thursdays as weekly sessions with specific emphasis on improving the child's academic, behavioral, and social functioning and while addressing individual and family difficulties through counseling and mutual problem solving. Our clinicians are advanced graduate students enrolled in the School-Based Family Counseling program at Cal State LA. These students are earning their Master's degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling (MFCC) and their Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential in School Counseling with advanced authorization in Child Welfare and Attendance. They are directly supervised by licensed Counseling faculty in the Charter College of Education.
