Equity Coordinators

The Equity Coordinators (ECs) were appointed in collaboration with their deans based on their leadership and dedication to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in their field and to the University. The role of the EC is to support the hiring, onboarding, and retention of faculty and faculty of color at their specific college. In addition, the EC serves as an advisor to the development of the college's equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging taskforce.

Serving as Equity Coordinator for the College of Business and Economics is a privilege. I love the diversity of the students, faculty, and staff of CalState LA, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help create and maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment on our campus. I have a heart for those who might feel alone or have a hard time adjusting to University life. I also enjoy the opportunity to work with so many first-generation students. I find that our students are happy to be here, eager to learn, and hard-working. I was also a first-generation student and I can relate to many of the experiences our students face. I enjoy connecting with members of our campus community; please feel free to reach out to me.

I enjoy spending time with my two adult daughters and their families and with my adopted son from Nigeria.

As the co-Equity Coordinator for the Xu College of Health and Human Services, my goal is to work collaboratively to help the college continue to build a more equitable community among faculty, staff, and students. I hope to foster a supportive environment with and for our faculty, especially faculty of color from historically marginalized backgrounds, to develop a strong sense of belonging as scholars on campus.

My spare time is often spent with my two young children, exploring the outdoors and attending various community events.
