Cal State LA currently uses Risk and Safety Solutions (RSS) to maintain laboratory and activity-based compliance on our campus. Below are some additional resources for using RSS. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the Chemical Hygiene Officer.
Tips Before Logging Into RSS
RSS works best when running on the most updated software. If you are using a mobile device, ensure your mobile application is updated before use.
When creating either a hazard assessment, group, or sublocation on RSS it is best to use the desktop version as the mobile application does not allow for much flexibility.
When a person is added to a group there are several actions that are required. Group owners are usually Principal Investigators (PIs) or responsible person(s) who oversee the laboratories or activities and are responsible for adding all working personnel to their group and completing a hazard assessment.
Please note that to add a person to your group the person will need to log into RSS at least once before so that the RSS system can capture their information. Once a person logs in, the group owner can immediately add them. If you are having issues please reach out directly to RSS using their ticketing system, which can be found at the bottom of all the RSS webpages.
If you are a member of a group but not the owner you must 'Acknowledge' the Hazard Assessment for the group and associated space.
RSS provides some basic information on different roles and manual changes that can be created within your group. Please visit their 'Help' webpage, and if you do not see the answer you are looking for please use the RSS Ticketing System for help.
Ready to Log In?
Logging in to RSS
All laboratory and activity-based personnel have access to RSS and can view their profile in RSS, however, if a person is not associated or added to a group then they cannot visibly see anything. In order to add people to a group, they must log in at least once so that RSS software can capture them. This should happen in an instant, as soon as someone logs in group owners should be able to add them to the group.
Please Note: Group members must acknowledge the hazard assessment for the lab location for the group in order for the hazard assessment to be valid, compliant, and considered complete.
TO LOGIN YOU MUST USE YOUR CALSTATE LA EMAIL AND PASSWORD.
