INTRODUCTION
Akbar E. Torbat began teaching at California State University, Los Angeles, in 1989. He has also taught at the University of California - Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, and several other CSU campuses. He has taught Economic Development, Comparative Economic Systems, International Economics, International Finance, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Economics for the Citizens, Money and Banking, and a number of other courses. Professor Torbat has also served as a financial advisor for a number of years.
EDUCATION AND RESEARCH INTERESTS
He earned a Master of Science degree from Tehran Polytechnic (Amir Kabir University of Technology) in 1969, a second Master of Science degree in industrial engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1974, a Master of Arts degree and a Ph.D. in Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas, respectively in 1980 and 1987. His field of specialization is international political economy. Dr. Torbat’s articles have been published in scholarly journals such as the Middle East Journal and The World Economy. He has been interviewed by various international media outlets concerning his field of expertise. He has also served as a reviewer for several academic journals.
