This is my faculty web site. They call me Professor Cristina. I have been teaching at CSULA since 1994, the majority of that time as a Full Professor; I am now Professor Emerita. I only teach Fall Semesters. I have also worked in a variety of discipline-related applied jobs. I was a Consultant to the Office of Civil Rights; a Program Evaluator for non-profits such as Paws for Life; a Research Associate for think tanks such as System Development Corporation (Rand affiliated) and Abt; a Senior Methodologist for Southwest Regional Lab (social sciences research firm); Consultant for private sector organizations such as Exxon and Digital; and more. Although I have several special interests within the discipline, I am currently most active in digital sociology, the topic of my most recent book (2019). This flows natuarally from my other main sociological interests: (1) sociology of media, popular culture, arts, and literature, and (2) social psychology. See my CV. (Downloads document)
It has been my challenge and reward to run the MA Program in Sociology for almost 2 decades, ending in Fall 2019. My recently published book: Interfacing Ourselves: Living in the Digital Age (2019) includes chapters authored (or co-authored) by my former graduate student mentees, based on work they completed here for their culminating projects.
