Porschia Nkansa is an associate professor of accounting at California State University, Los Angeles. She has a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Memphis and a B.S. in Accountancy from DePaul University. Her research interests are accounting education, behavioral research (auditing, entrepreneurship and ethics) and minority experiences in accounting. Dr. Nkansa is a 2014 Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Michael J. Barrett doctoral dissertation grant awardee and 2020-2021 Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Lybrand Award recipient. She has presented her research at American Accounting Association conferences and the London International Conference on Education. Dr. Nkansa has written an online article for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International’s Best Business Schools blog, appears in a featured online interview in Black Enterprise and is quoted in a Journal of Accountancy article. Her research is published in Accounting Education, Advances in Accounting, Business Forum, Current Issues in Auditing and Strategic Finance.
Dr. Nkansa has taught auditing, ethics, financial accounting, and governmental and not-for-profit courses to undergraduate and graduate students. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with professional experience working for a Big Four public accounting firm, government agency, nonprofit organization and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Dr. Nkansa is a documentary lover and foodie who enjoys Pure Barre workouts and music events.
