Bio- I received my PhD in Computer Science from UCLA, which was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship on glaucoma research at the Stein Eye Institute. I performed and oversaw various information management projects between School of Medicine and the UCLA Computer Science Department. I co-founded MediSens Inc and served as its Senior Consultant until its acquisition by Abena Nova. I am also the founder of the Project EyeSee, in which I am supervising a team of computer scientists in designing interactive, context-aware, and augmented reality-based apps that significantly improve the quality of life in people with low vision and cognitive deficits. I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Sharif University and UCLA, respectively.
I am currently serving as CSULA's PI on an NIH R01 grant titled “Detection of Disease Progression in Advanced Glaucoma”. The grant is a collaboration between UCLA Stein Eye Institute and the California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). The goal of the project is to optimize the detection of glaucoma progression in patients with advanced glaucoma. Thus far, four years into the grant period of five years, our collective effort has led to the development of two software products, one mobile application, three abstracts, and six peer reviewed articles in prestigious ophthalmology journals and high-ranked technical conferences.
