Pages maintained by students, faculty, staff, departments, and organizations should conform to published University policies on the use of University computers and computer networks. Failure to comply with those policies may result in the removal of pages or loss of computing privileges.
DO NOT use California State University, Los Angeles seals, logos, graphic devices, or emblems such as those shown on the University home page without permission. For guidelines on the use of these emblems, contact the Office of Public Affairs.
Faculty, students, and staff are advised that they should be familiar with the protections afforded authors by U.S. Copyright Law and the limitations on exclusive rights extended by the Fair Use Clause when posting materials to the Web site. All parties posting materials to the Cal State L.A. Web Server represent and warrant to Cal State L.A. that the submission, installation, copying, distribution, and use of such materials in connection with the Cal State L.A. Web Server will not violate any other party's proprietary rights. The Working Group on Intellectual Property Rights, which is chaired by Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks Bruce A. Lehman, was established within the Information Policy Committee to examine the intellectual property implications of the National Information Infrastructuire (NII). This Report represents the Working Group's examination and analysis to date. While it addresses each of the major areas of intellectual property law, it focuses primarily on copyright law and its application and effectiveness in the context of the NII.
