The Urban Ecology Center is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Poster Symposium on October 15, 2024, titled:
Reimagine your Campus with the Urban Ecology Center
The event will run from 2:00 pm to 4:15 pm.
Venue: The Poster Symposium will be held in the Ferguson Courtyard and the lobby of La Kretz Hall
The Poster Symposium will include graphic presentations of students’ ideas, dreams, and aspirations of making Cal State LA a sustainable campus where everyone belongs and all species find a home.
Authors will be guided by the mission of the UEC when creating their posters:
Each poster submission will address one idea or theme on how to enhance urban sustainability, biodiversity, and food security on our campus.
Each poster will pick a campus location where their ideas can be demonstrated. Photographs of the existing location can be used to illustrate your ideas about change and transformation. Your ideas must be practical and easy to implement.
UEC Mission:
1. Academic Research in urban ecology, biodiversity, food security, and environmental justice.
2. Practical Demonstration of sustainability and food security projects on campus.
3. Education and Outreach to cultivate a green workforce and environmentally conscious citizens in Los Angeles.
Poster Instructions:
Authors will visually convey their ideas for reimagining Cal State LA using images, photos, diagrams, artistic renderings, and concise text. Please submit posters as a PDF file to Dr. Wood and Dr. Chatterjee by 5th October 2024. The UEC will print the posters, and the size will be 2 feet by 3 feet.
Students whose posters are selected for the symposium will be expected to attend the event and provide a 1-2 minute overview of their poster. Attendees will be able to engage directly with the authors during discussions at the symposium.
Three prizes will be awarded to posters that fulfill all the criteria of the symposium and offer the most innovative ideas about how to transform our campus. Student authors will be offered an opportunity to meet with Dr. Eric Wood and Dr. Choi Chatterjee to discuss the implementation of their ideas on campus.
