Employee Public Bus Subsidy Application

The University will provide a monthly bus subsidy, based upon the availability of funds, to full-time or part-time University employees (on University payroll), arriving to campus before 11:00 am and use public transit as an alternate mode of transportation to the University at least four (4) or more days per week. The subsidy will be 25% for employees who do not own a parking permit; such employees may obtain up to four (4) Commuter 1-Day Parking Permits in the span of 30 days per month from calstatela.aimsparking.com. For employees owning a parking permit, the monthly subsidy will be 15% per month; for these employees there will be no allocation for parking permits. Pass discounts or daily parking permits cannot be accumulated if the employee failed to pick up their subsidized item on any given month or for not knowing of the existence of this program. Participants separating from campus or on extended leave must notify the Commuter Services Office immediately.

NOTE: MONTHLY SUBSIDIZED PASSES ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE 1st THROUGH THE 20th OF THE MONTH. ALL PARTICIPANTS IN A PAYROLL DEDUCTION PROGRAM MUST PURCHASE FIRST MONTH’S PASS PAYMENT IN ADVANCE.

Would You Like To Participate In Payroll Deduction for A Transit Pass?
Commuter Services offers payroll deduction for qualifying employees. Check YES to request monthly payments to be deducted from your pay warrant, or NO to pay monthly.

1. Eligibility for Pre-Tax Transportation Deduction Plan applies only to full-time University staff and tenured faculty with an appointment through the academic year or longer.

2. Payroll deduction for train/bus pass is identified as Transportation on your earnings statement and withheld once each month.

3. After approval, commuter services will notify you through email. Your first deduction will be the following month. You may receive up to 4 daily parking permits in the span of 30 days after you purchase your first month of transportation pass and register your vehicle in the parking portal.

4. Deduction for transportation pass is taken before federal, state, social security, and medical taxes are calculated.

5. It is the responsibility of the employee to inform the Transportation Office of cancellation or changes to this deduction. This would include changes in your department, bargaining unit, leave of absences, etc.

6. Payroll deduction will cease once the participant completes the Payroll Deduction Update Form at www.calstatela.edu/parking/parking-transportation-payroll-deduction-update-form. The deductions will cease once the deletion notice is submitted to the payroll office.

7. Transit passes obtained through payroll deduction are for the personal commute of the participant only. Sharing, selling, or transferring passes is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action or loss of program eligibility.

 I hereby authorize the State Controller's Office to deduct from my salaries and wages the amount specified for parking fees at California State University, Los Angeles. I understand that future parking fees are subject to change as approved by the University President. This authorization will remain in effect until my separation from the University, cancellation initiated by me or by California State University, Los Angeles.
