Joining the lab
Requirements for undergraduate students include completing at least one year of biology and one year of chemistry with a 3.0 GPA or higher prior to beginning any lab work. Thus, it is often ideal to start working in the lab during the summer between the sophomore and junior year. Students are also highly encouraged to complete the requirements for graduation with honors.
Requirements for graduate students include two years of biology and two years of chemistry with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Additional criteria can be found for admission to the Biology MS degree program.
Inquire by email. Include a brief explanation of your interest in research, an approximate anticipated starting date, and your expected graduation date. Also, send me your unofficial transcripts and a curriculum vitae. Please keep in mind that my first impression of you is influenced greatly by your first communication with me. Avoid using 1337-speak, substitutions of "u" for "you" and any other slang your English professors would likely mark with a red pen.
