There are different application and admission steps for post-baccalaureate and current Cal State LA students. Which one are you?
Spring 2025 applications due October 1, 2024
Admission Requirements & Eligibility
- GPA of 2.5 overall or 2.75 in the last 60 semester/90 quarter units
- Certificate of Clearance from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
- Philosophy Statement
- Negative TB Test within four calendar years
Please note: Students must also go through an interview. Basic skills are an admission requirement, subject matter competency exam/coursework is not a requirement for admission.
Post-Baccalaureate Application
Applying to a credential program as a new Post-Baccalaureate student. You are graduating or hold a degree before you start the credential program.
Complete all required sections of your credential program application including:
Philosophy of Education Statement
Negative TB Test
Two Letters of Recommendation
Once you apply to the university through Cal State Apply, you will be given a CIN number. You need the CIN number to pay the application review fee.
There is no additional application.
Submitting Transcipts to Admissions
Please send official transcripts (Submitting Transcripts/Test Scores to Admissions) from all universities, except Cal State LA, you attended as an undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student. You must mail or deliver transcripts to:

Pay a $65 Admission and Credential Application Fee before submitting the application

You can apply to add on a second credential program if you are currently enrolled in a Cal State LA Credential Program.
