Cal State LA Downtown regularly hosts live/virtual information sessions, prerecorded information sessions, and in-person open house events that provide prospective students with an opportunity to learn about our programs.
Students pursuing their degree on Cal State LA’s Main Campus may not take courses at Cal State LA Downtown as part of their degree program. Only students admitted to programs offered in Downtown LA may attend courses at Cal State LA Downtown after paying all required fees.
Current Cal State LA students are welcome to pursue a program at Cal State LA Downtown in addition to their degree, but additional fees will apply. Programs offered at Cal State LA Downtown are not transferable to Cal State LA's Main Campus.
Students admitted to a program at Cal State LA Downtown are welcome to pursue a program at Cal State LA's Main Campus, but an additional application is required.
Cal State LA Downtown is located in the heart of Los Angeles, within walking distance for residents and workers, and easily accessible via public transportation to the wider community.

Academic advisement is a vital student resource that has been shown to contribute to student success. According to the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), advisement helps decrease the time to degree completion. Meeting with an advisor has also been shown to improve student academic performance while providing students with an opportunity to connect with the university on a one-on-one basis. Advisors at Cal State LA Downtown are available to support and work with you in the following areas:

Refund Policy for Non-Credit Classes
Here is the important information you need to know about refunds:
Refunds are based on the postmarked date, or the date stamp on your refund request.
You will receive a full refund if your class is canceled for any reason. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing.
You will receive a full refund minus a $10 processing fee if you submit your refund request prior to the first class meeting.
You will receive a refund minus 65% of fees paid for any course that has more than four meetings. However, you MUST submit your request before 25% of the course time has elapsed.
You receive no refund if you submit a refund request after 25% of the course time has elapsed for any course that has more than four meetings.
There is no refund for courses that have four or fewer meetings once the course begins.
Refund Policy for Credit Classes
Students enrolled in credit courses and programs are entitled to a refund when they follow the campus-established procedures to drop classes or withdraw from the program as outlined below.
Students must drop courses or withdraw from a program before the first day of classes to receive a 100% refund of registration fees less a $10.00 administrative fee. A signed Course/Program Withdrawal and Request for Refund Form dated before the first day of class must be submitted in order to obtain a refund.
Students who drop a course or withdraw from a program after the start of the term will receive a pro-rata refund of registration fees. The pro-rata refund is based on the date on which the Course/Program Withdrawal and Request for Refund Form is received in the College office.
Students who withdraw after the tenth week of the term will not be eligible to receive a refund of registration fees and will be responsible for 100% of fees for the term.
A $10.00 administrative fee will be withheld from all refunds unless withdrawal is the result of a campus regulation, compulsory military service, disability, death of the student, or class cancellation by the College.
Refund checks will be mailed to the address noted on the Course/Program Withdrawal and Request for Refund Form. The refund checks are mailed approximately four to six weeks after the request is received by the College.

Cal State LA and the local Workforce Investment Board are working together to ensure that our state has a well-trained and sustainable workforce. If you have been laid off due to poor economic conditions, company closure, or mass layoff, you may be eligible to receive free career development training.
To find out if you qualify for paid training, contact your local American Job Center (formerly One-Stop Center) to have them determine your eligibility to receive free training. Be sure to mention that you want to take classes through the College of Professional and Global Education at Cal State LA.
