Dr. Rakel Delevi, originally from Istanbul, Turkey, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies. She teaches a variety of topics, including intimate relationships, child and adult development, communication, relationship conflict and family violence, sexuality, and family transitions. Her research mainly focuses on various aspects of romantic relationships, including the impact of interparental conflict on young adult romantic relationships and the effects of technology (i.e., sexting) on relationships. Besides teaching and research, Dr. Rakel is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and works with individuals and couples in her private practice in Pasadena. Her hobbies include traveling, swimming, and hot yoga.
She is happy to serve as the director of the Institute and hopes to advise as many students as possible on their professional journeys.
