Cal State LA selected to join the inaugural global ‘Partners in Peace’ initiative
Cal State LA has been selected as a member of the inaugural Partners in Peace cohort, an initiative launched by the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) in partnership with the Nobel Peace Center.
This program recognizes institutions for their efforts in creating, implementing, and assessing honors-level academic and co-curricular projects that highlight the work of Alfred Nobel and Nobel Peace Prize laureates.

Cal State LA and UC Irvine Earn Funding And Partnerships For Diverse Student Development Programs
Cal State LA's Honors College has been awarded an Institutional Impact Grant from Wake Forest University's Educating Character Initiative (ECI). This grant will fund a partnership with Tuskegee University to develop the "Building the Character Collaborative", a program aimed at enhancing leadership and character development among students from both institutions. Rooted in the teachings of Booker T. Washington, the project emphasizes cross-cultural learning and leadership, drawing on the diverse backgrounds of Cal State LA's majority Latinx student body and Tuskegee's historically Black student population.

Scholarships
The Honors College takes special pride in our President’s Scholars and the leadership and intellectual curiosity they bring to our community. President’s scholars receive annual scholarships of $2,500 to $6,800 (potentially renewable for up to four years) in recognition of their achievement, motivation, and a commitment to maximizing their educational experiences in and outside of the classroom. President's Scholars will generally have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 3.75. They are featured in Honors College leadership activities on campus and off.
The Honors College is also pleased to offer additional multi-year scholarships, as available, to incoming Honors College freshmen who demonstrate motivation, and a commitment to making the most of their educational opportunities.

Join the Honors College
The Cal State LA Honors College is committed to admitting motivated students who are interested in actively participating in our intellectual, social, and community engagement programs. Selection will be based on a comprehensive review of application materials, including written essays and letters of recommendation. Both new and continuing students are eligible for admission to the Honors College. New students must also be admitted to the University.
National and International Scholarships and Fellowships Program
Located within the Honors College, NISFeP assists all Cal State LA students in pursuing off-campus scholarships and fellowships in the areas of academic and applied research, and global and civic learning.
Advising
The Honors College supports the undergraduate community with advising services as students explore, navigate Cal State LA and graduate. Academic Advisors help students navigate through Cal State LA Orientation, registration of classes, and graduation with general education and Honors College requirements. Students should meet regularly with their advisor.
Honors College Alumna
Dr. Leana Wen is an emergency physician, professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, and a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. She is also the author of When Doctors Don't Listen: How to Avoid Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Tests (2013) and Lifelines: A Doctor's Journey in the Fight for Public Health (2021). She returned to The Honors College for an insightful conversation on public health, mentorship, and her newest book.
