Chris Bachman, PhD PE
Mechanical Engineering Department Associate Professor
Dr. Bachman teaches Introduction to Engineering and Technology, Introduction to Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, and Capstone Senior Design. He directs the ECST Makerspace and also advises the Formula SAE team. His research interests include batteries, fuel cells, energy systems, and education.
Kelly Phan
Team Captain, Frame Lead
Jesus leads this year's team. As a Baja SAE veteran, Jesus knows the ins and outs of getting a team ready for competition. As the frame lead, he is tasked with ensuring the roll cage fabrication is up to safety standards.
Hugo Gamiz
Co-Captain, Steering Lead
Hugo designed and manufactured the 2023 Baja steering geometry. He also manages the week-to-week operations of the team. In his downtime, Hugo likes to work on project cars. After graduating, he would like to work in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
Jesse Nunes
Suspension Lead
Jesse is tasked with analyzing and redesigning the suspension system of the 2023 car. An avid off-roader, Jesse gives the team great insight into how a solid Baja car should behave.
Alejandro Barron
Drivetrain Lead, Business Lead
Alejandro analyzed and tuned the drivetrain for the 2023 season. He also works on submitting business documentation and works with the social media team.
Edgardo Montanez
Brakes Lead
Edgardo is in charge of the leading safety feature in any vehicle, the brakes. His duties revolved around making sure the Baja car can stop at the drop of a hat. all four wheels ...this section is under construction for the 2022-2023 season.
John San
Ergonomics and Composites Lead
John works as the team's composites expert. He's responsible for both driver endurance and safety.
