The Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Fine Arts Building at California State University, Los Angeles, serving the needs of an urban and diverse university community and providing a forum for investigating a wide range of visual cultures.The Fine Arts Gallery presents cultural exhibits, professional artists, Cal State LA faculty, and graduate and undergraduate students year around.

THE SCHOOL FOR ENDURANCE WORK curated by Carole Lung

The exhibit, “The School for Endurance Work,” is the work of its curator, Carole Lung, Professor of Fashion, Fiber and Materials in the Department of Art at Cal State LA. The exhibition features outstanding artists (Kim Abeles, Artemisa Clark, Zackary Drucker , Sonja Gerdes ,Elizabeth Houston, Elana Mann, Jennifer Moonand Jemima Wyman) and the visiting scholars (Carol Cheh, consulting curator and essay and Shannon R. Stratton, Curator of the Museum of Arts and Design NYC ) with their generous contributions. Art is a form to express, educate and influence the concepts that define history, culture, and society. The Cal State LA Fine Arts Gallery is to serve the needs of an urban and diverse university community through art but also provides a forum for investigating a wide range of visual cultures through art and art related events. This exhibition truly serves the gallery’s mission. There will be also faculty (Oli Rodriguez, Photography, Zach Zezima, Animation and Susan Kane, Music) and their students play as an integral part of the exhibition. - By Mika Cho

Self Help Graphics & Art has continued to represent the heart of the Chicano Art Movement.

Cal State LA Fine Arts Gallery will host the “Arts and Letters Showcase” curated by four students who served and are serving as Gallery’s student staff in 2017 and 2018, Alex Rodriguez, Audrey Perez, Jed Surio and Nina Gibson. Jed and Nina completed the Internship Program at the Getty and the Pasadena Museum and have brought a wealth of experience back to the Gallery and the University. The showcase includes student exhibitions, presentations and performances from various disciplines at the college of Arts and Letters.
