Library Services for Alumni & Community
You can borrow materials from the University Library if you are:
- Cal State LA Alumni Association Members
- Emeriti Faculty
- Los Angeles County High School For the Arts , Stern MASS and LAUSD High School students and staff
- Mutual Use Borrowers - All CSU Students & Select Community College students
Apply For Borrowing Privileges
Want to apply for materials from the Cal State LA University Library? Apply in person at the first floor service desk, Library North. Forms are available at the desk or print the application form to bring with you. Please also bring:
- A valid government-issued ID or state Driver's License, and:
- For alumni accounts: proof of Alumni Association membership
- For emeriti Faculty: proof of emeriti status
- For LACHSA, Stern MASS, other high school, or Mutual Use accounts: your current, valid school ID & parent/guardian signature
Upon approval, you can borrow materials from the library's physical collection. Please note that borrowing privileges are limited to most physical items owned by the library. This does not include CSU+, Interlibrary Loan, or Course Reserves.
Library accounts will remain active for one year from the date of the approved application.
Computer, Printer, and Internet Access:
Local Community, Cal State LA Alumni, visiting researchers and community borrowers may bring their own devices and access the public WiFi network CSULA-OPEN
- Campus computer access and printing are limited to current Cal State LA Students, Faculty, and Staff with a Cal State LA login credential.
- Access to the library's electronic resources, such as databases, e-journals, and e-books is limited to on campus only by connecting to the public WiFi CSULA-OPEN network
